Sussex second team, captained by Worthing's Andy Walker, came home with the first county championships gold medals of the season last weekend.

At New Malden, they powered past Oxfordshire 6-4 and Buckinghamshire 8-2 to win the division two (south) title.

Walker, Peter Bartram, Terry Haley, Sheila King and Sara Stedman are strong enough to create more havoc next season when they are promoted to the higher division.

The London Progress club is the venue on Sunday for the third of four sessions in division one (south) of the British League.

Walker will also captain the Horsham playing two matches against lowly Northampton and very strong Reading team. Horsham and Reading are locked together at the top of the table.

The result of this match could decide the championship and promotion. Reading will field ace defender David Barr but Horsham will have former England No.4 junior Dominic Hall at No.2.

Hall secured a magnificent win over former Horsham player Adrian Moore in the last British League weekend.

If Hall can find top form again on Sunday, Horsham could be on the promotion path. Whether the cash-strapped club can afford to go up remains to be seen.
