Two organisations want to take over a coach station which closed for business suddenly on Wednesday.
They have approached Brighton and Hove City Council which owns the site at Pool Valley.
Howard Trevette quit after eight years, citing a difference of opinion with the council.
The offices are closed but coaches are stopping there as normal.
Tickets for coach travel can be purchased from the council's visitor information centre in Bartholomew Square.
It is open six days a week and every day from Easter and throughout the summer.
Transport councillor Simon Battle said: "It is unfortunate that Howard Trevette has lost his franchise to sell National Express tickets, but we would like to reassure the public that tickets are still available through our visitor information centre.
"We will be talking to all interested parties about securing the best service for coach travellers and are committed to re-opening Pool Valley for ticket sales as soon as possible."
The council carried out improvements to Pool Valley in the autumn, including rebuilding pavements and extra parking enforcement.
The road is to be resurfaced and bus shelters replaced.
