The Escape's 19th birthday party, Every Day People, 100watt and Buddhacity are our picks of the week's dancefloor action.
The Escape, Brighton, January 20
Nineteen is a funny old age but the Escape Club shows no sign of becoming a tired, old 20-something just yet.
Monday sees an upstairs-downstairs birthday party. Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, and Ritchie D will be serving time in the basement, while the posh folks enjoy a celebrity Stick It On upstairs.
Look out for Brighton and Hove Albion favourite Bobby Zamora, celebrity hairdresser Willie Hendry, Luke Cresswell (founder of Stomp), television presenter Zoe Ball and many more surprise guests behind the decks.
The stars will have their 15 minutes of fun and the punters should go home happy.
The event runs from 9pm to 2am and admission is £6.
Every Day People, The Escape Club, Brighton, January 18
Another Escape (Club) to victory. This isn't the most original of choices. EDP has made more than a few appearances on these pages but, as any Liverpool fan likes to say: "Form is temporary, class is permanent."
This is a classy night, even without the star guests, but tomorrow should see Andy Mac (Skint/Loaded) and Pete Haywood (quite literally) "in the house" and that should be worth queuing for.
The night runs from 10pm to 3am.
Admission is £8/7 (NUS £5 before midnight) .
100watt, Hanbury Ballroom, Kemp Town, Brighton, January 17
100watt is more like a well-stocked wardrobe than a night out, bringing together more styles than Sex And The City's Carrie Bradshaw's clothes collection (stay with me).
Expect latin funk beats and disco/electro/afrobeats, courtesy of Tom, Ali, and JW. Watch out for Henry Redhead and visuals by Jeremy Wulff.
The fun runs from 10pm to 2am. Admission is £5/4 (£3 before 11pm).
Buddhacity, Sallis Benney Theatre, Brighton, January 25
This one brings together Buddha, Matt Black (of Coldcut fame) and stilt walkers under one roof.
There's the promise of global beats from DJ Ghecko, live drumming, dancing, poetry and exotic visuals in an alcohol and smoke-free space.
There's probably no better time to remember your resolutions than this distinctly original affair.
Advance tickets are available at the Dome box office (01273 709709) and Rounder Records (01273 325440).
The event runs from 7.30pm to midnight. Tickets £8 (£6 UB40/NUS).
