Boys will be girls if councillors agree to a cross dressing music and dance show this summer.
Ladyboys from Bangkok, which played to packed houses at the Edinburgh Festival, wants to visit Brighton and Hove for six weeks in May and June.
They are asking the city council if they can put up a marquee on Victoria Gardens, opposite the King and Queen pub, near the statue of Queen Victoria.
The usual venues for staging such shows, the Level and Preston Park, are already booked for Brighton Festival events.
A council report describes Ladyboys from Bangkok as risque cabaret with no nudity. Officials have seen the show, which includes glamorous costumes, mime and dance, and deemed it suitable for a general audience.
The main auditorium would be a 26m-diameter big top, seating up to 500.
Other smaller tents would provide dressing rooms and a box office. Security personnel would remain on site overnight.
Councillors will make a decision at the next meeting of the culture committee on February 6. If it goes ahead, there would be two shows a day from Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday off. Performances would end by 11pm.
One reviewer at Edinburgh last year described performers as "guys who make the most convincing women I have ever seen."
Culture councillor Andy Durr said: "I've no doubt it would be very popular."
