Defender John Price struck a vital goal in the fourth minute of injury time to earn a 2-2 draw for Eastbourne Borough against fellow promotion hopefuls Bashley in the eastern division.
All was looking lost for Garry Wilson's men when they forced a corner with the referee looking at his watch.
Skipper Daren Pearce's flag kick from the left was knocked on by Stuart Tuck and Price somehow squeezed the ball home from an angle through a ruck of players by the far post.
Borough boss Wilson was relieved with the point, but unhappy about the home performance.
"I thought we were a bit flat," he admitted. "I've had a bit of a go at them after the game.
"This was a match we really wanted to win and Bashley are the fifth top side we have failed to beat at home.
"We have got to beat these teams at home if we are going to get promotion."
Borough were never in the game during the opening half-hour and Matt Jones deservedly put Bashley ahead in the 19th minute when he headed home Darren Robson's free-kick from the left.
A superb individual goal by Scott Ramsay levelled the scores on the half-hour.
They started the second half well on top and it was against the run of play when Jones netted his second goal in the 66th minute.
After this Bashley packed their defence and looked like taking home the points until Price's last-gasp effort which was virtually the last kick of the game.
