Albion have not been left with a £7,000 bill for their postponed FA Cup third round tie at Norwich after all.

Norwich have agreed to pay their travel and accomodation costs for both matches after the game on January 4 was called off due to a power failure at Carrow Road.

According to FA rules the costs of a postponement are split if no one club is at fault. The FA have cleared Norwich of blame, entitling the Canaries to claim two full sets of matches expenses following their 3-1 victory in the rearranged tie.

But a statement issued by Norwich said they have decided to pay for all of Albion's team travel and accomodation costs for both matches, amounting to £5,867.

The statement added: "Together with Brighton's share of the £7,000 additional gate receipts from the rearranged match, Brighton have not been left substantially out of pocket as a result of the postponement."

Martin Perry, Albion's chief executive, said: "The postponement was no one's fault and we are delighted that, in the sporting tradition of the FA Cup, Norwich have made this generous gesture."

Albion fans attending last week's rearranged game were also presented with £5 refreshment vouchers.

Albion's reserve game against Northampton at Woodside Road, Worthing, tomorrow night is off due to a waterlogged pitch.
