A workman clearing up after a BMW smashed into a lamp post was injured when another BMW crashed into him at the same spot less than an hour later.
The first crash happened at 8.45am yesterday when the car went off the road while going northbound on the A23 near Handcross Hill.
It smashed into a lamp post and overturned on to its roof. The driver was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath with slight head injuries.
The workman was sent to fix the post and less than an hour later another BMW swerved off the road and crashed into the repair van, which hit the workman. The BMW also hit another lamp post.
The workman was taken to the Princess Royal with injuries which were serious but not life threatening. The driver of the second car had slight injuries.
