A council has vowed to recover £12,152 from a convicted fraudster.

Valerie Toth, 35, of Maybridge Crescent, pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates Court to two offences of falsely claiming income support.

She also admitted failing to notify the council of a change of circumstances relating to housing benefit and council tax benefit.

Toth was sentenced to a 100-hour community punishment order, a 12-

month rehabilitation order and ordered to pay £200 costs.

Worthing Borough Council said it would pursue Toth for the outstanding £12,152.

Councillor Hazel Thorpe, executive member for housing, said: "The council will keep on prosecuting until everyone understands it is not worth trying to beat the benefits system."
