I read the recent article "Parcelfarce" (The Argus, January 9) with a growing sense of dj vu.
Last year, I had the misfortune of using Parcelforce to send a package from Brighton to Amersham in Buckinghamshire, a distance of about 90 miles.
When I posted it, I was told it should take about three days to be delivered. When the package had still not arrived after three weeks, I wrote it off and decided never to use Parcelforce again.
Eventually, the package arrived - 28 days after I had sent it.
This works out at an average speed of around 0.1 miles an hour, which I pointed out to Parcelforce when I wrote a letter of complaint demanding at least a refund of the £10 I paid.
I received a curt and entirely insincere apology informing me that since Parcelforce had no guarantees of delivery times I was entitled to nothing.
At that point I decided to tell everyone I know never to use the service.
