Music lovers face confusion on their way to the opera after highways bosses misspelt Glyndebourne on road signs.
Highways Agency workers misspelt the famous opera venue as Glynbourne on three signs along the A27.
The mistake happened when the agency had to replace up to 40 aluminum road signs, which were stolen more than two months ago.
However, it made the spelling mistake on the new reinforced plastic signs directing the way to Glyndebourne Opera House, even though it spelt the nearby village of Glynde correctly.
Fortunately, Glyndebourne does not start its season until May so a spokeswoman for the venue said it had not had any lost or confused visitors so far.
She said: "I am afraid Glyndebourne is often misspelt - usually the 'e' is missing - but not often to that degree."
Ouse Valley ward councillor Carol Borowski said there had not yet been any complaints to the parish council.
A spokeswoman for the agency said new signs with the correct spelling would be up within six weeks.
She said: "We offer our sincere apologies and we will rectify the situation as soon as we possibly can."
