I would be delighted if Brighton and Hove City Council decides to introduce congestion charging in the city centre.
Too many people are far too dependent on their cars. I live at the lower end of Dyke Road and am constantly staggered by the never-ending stream of cars that flows past my flat, creating noise and fumes.
The park-and-ride scheme costs almost as much as car parks - £4 for return tickets for two people - which puts people off using it when they visit the city.
If everyone left their cars at home once in a while we would all be happier, healthier and less stressed. The city has a great bus service.
Better still, why not walk away those extra pounds you put on over Christmas?
As long as people who genuinely need to use their cars - such as those with disabilities or tradespeople - are exempted from the scheme, I am all in favour of it. What a great way for the council to raise money.
While I'm on the subject, how about a pedestrian crossing on the Dyke Road-Old Shoreham Road junction? I have to take my life into my hands every time I cross it.
