ANITA WARDELL QUARTET: Atmospheric Australian jazz singer with fiery rhythm section, including Robin Aspland, (Curtis Stigers' pianist ) and US drummer Gene Calderazzo. Brighton Jazz Club at Sussex Arts Club, Brighton, January 24 at 8pm.
TONY REMY: Top soul funk guitarist with his own band. Remy has recorded with many top acts, including Pee Wee Ellis and Michael Brecker. He has also composed acclaimed film scores, including Mike Leigh's Career Girls. Old Market, Upper Market Street, Hove, January 25, 9pm.
SPRING HEEL JACK and MATTHEW SHIPP QUARTET: UK sampling crew meet emerging star pianist of the United States free scene, plus saxophone master Evan Parker and Dutch percussion legend Han Bennink. The Corn Exchange, Brighton, January 25, 8pm.
CAFE PRAGUE: Barb Jungr's special guests include vocalist Sarah Moule, pianist Simon Wallace and bassist Mick Hutton celebrating the unique Fran Landesman. Komedia, Brighton, January 29, 8.30pm.
AGITATORS: Brighton's own 12-piece soul, afrobeat and ska celebration. Komedia, Brighton, January 30, 8.30pm.
