Thanks to the lax attitude of various organisations, the restoration of Brighton's West Pier has been put on the back burner for many years.
This attitude has cost many towns and cities, not only in the United Kingdom, but across the world, the loss of many sites and places of historical, architectural and archaeological significance.
The lack of funds or funds not being deemed viable for history or heritage is totally ludicrous. We learn from the past how to face the future, whether it be improving a given situation or, perhaps, returning to a better way of life.
I find it extremely odd that funding is always available for those who wish for something for nothing, new superstores and the so-called asylum seekers, for example.
The majority of us, who live decent lives and who have contributed to this country financially and in many other ways, are ignored.
Perhaps I don't find it odd - just inevitable.
