Reading about the indecent haste of Brighton and Hove City Council's determination to transfer some Portslade council tenants to housing associations (Letters, January 22) poses several questions.
Why is the Government forcing councils to pay housing benefit from council house rents, thus starving housing departments of vital revenue and subsidising the poorest from other poor?
Why are housing association managers, who are un-elected, allowed to borrow vast amounts compared with elected councils?
Above all, why has Labour effectively abandoned council housing?
