I was just wondering about long-serving employees, having read about a postman with 20 years' service (The Argus, January 25).

Brighton and Hove City Council's refuse department has eight of us with 240 years' service between us. That is a lot of years clearing rubbish for the city's public.

We have adapted to many changes, some for the better, some not.

I just thought some recognition would be very welcome. We have not received any from the council, which I think is a disgrace.

The eight are: R Denyer; G Gibbs; D Waterman; E Edmunds; T Ford; G Brown; F Currie; and myself.
