The state of the Hove bandstand is a disgrace. It has long been left to rot and rust.
Grandiose notices about how rehabilitation of this Grade II-listed building is part of Brighton and Hove City Council's scheme for improving this section of the seafront have long since been torn down and used by skateboarders.
Now the toilets have been closed and men urinate publicly in front of its closed doors.
Recently, the windows and glass door of the men's toilet have been smashed by vandals and no attempt has been made to board them up to prevent further damage.
It is well known that buildings, once vandalised, encourage fur-ther vandalisation. How much longer do we have to wait before someone sets fire to the woodwork?
In my opinion, the council is guilty of gross negligence in permitting this state of affairs to continue.
