Curtis Woodhouse has explained why he turned down Albion.
The Birmingham midfielder has joined Rotherham on loan for the rest of the season after rejecting a three-month move to the Seagulls.
Woodhouse said: "I was aware that Brighton and Grimsby had both expressed an interest, but I particularly wanted to come to Millmoor because Rotherham are a club who are doing well."
Bobby Zamora will receive his manager's blessing if he earns another England under-21 call-up.
David Platt's squad will be unveiled on February 8 for the friendly in Italy three days later.
Zamora's inclusion would mean him missing the early part of Albion's preparations for the fixture at Bradford on February 15.
Steve Coppell said: "I love my players going away. I just think it's a nice break for them.
"It's a different voice, a different perspective, and if he is selected then I will be well pleased."
