Hundreds of hedgehogs could be imported by air to Sussex so that they are not executed in the Outer Hebrides.
The spiky imports are believed to be responsible for a drop in breeding birds on the islands by eating their eggs.
By flying them out to people willing to have hedgehogs in their gardens, animal lovers are proposing a humane solution to a prickly problem.
