I remember spending many happy days as a child on the wonderful West Pier so I was very sad to see it finally collapse into the sea.
But worse than this was the rush to collect all the bits of the concert hall that were washed up on to the shore.
Many of us residents would dearly love to own a small part of our town's history but by the time I got down there all the wreckage had already been taken. I would love to have owned such a historical item and I find it a pity that much
of the pier did not find a good home.
