Proposals for a new £1 million youth and community centre have been unveiled.
A model of how the Maybridge Youth and Community Centre in Goring will look reveals space for a sports hall, meeting rooms and increased storage.
Worthing Mayor Eric Mardell, who officially unveiled the model, described it as an important step.
He said: "I am delighted with how it looks. This is a very important step forward for the people of Maybridge and their community centre."
The new centre will be built on the site of the existing Maybridge Keystone Club in Raleigh Way, Goring. The Fifties building was only expected to last 25 years and is now beyond economical repair.
Project chairman Derek Northeast said: "This is a very exciting project for Maybridge.
"We know there is a need and the will to build it. If we get the funding, we hope work can start in 12 months and that it will be finished within two years."
Worthing Borough Council has agreed to transfer the freehold of the site as well as £300,000 in funds.
West Sussex County Council has pledged £25,000 and project leaders are applying to the lottery fund for another £250,000.
Fund-raising in the community has already raised £4,000.
