A memorial service is being held for a father-of-six who died after a road crash five months ago.
David Rowsell, 69, died peacefully on Saturday. He had been in a coma since his camper van was involved in a collision with a Jaguar at the Beddingham railway crossing, amid horrific weather conditions.
Mr Rowsell, of Place Farm, Firle, was married to wife Anita, had five daughters and one son. He was born in Tiverton, Somerset, but moved to Firle as a child where he grew-up to run Place Farm.
In a statement, family members said: "He was a popular figure in the farming community around Firle and Lewes. He was a respected and loved man who loved sailing and was a keen sportsman."
Mr Rowsell ran the dairy and crops farm with his wife.
He had been admitted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, after shattering the bones in his leg. A 35-year-old man and a dog were also killed in the collision.
The memorial service will take place on Wednesday, February 12 at Firle Parish Church at noon, followed by a reception at Firle Place.
