I have never been able to understand why Noble was permitted to rename the Palace Pier "Brighton Pier", although I can understand for commercial purposes it wished to marginalise the West Pier and the attempts being made to restore it.
I am therefore delighted The Argus calls the pier by its proper and historical name.
The council should insist on this. The fire this week also provides an excellent opportunity to challenge the management regarding its promise to restore the theatre at the end of the pier.
