A robber targeted two middle-aged women last night, smashing their car windows and grabbing one of them by the hair.
The man struck as the women got into a car near the Aquarena swimming pool, in Brighton Road, Worthing, at 10.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "He smashed the car windows and tried to grab a handbag."
The women, from Lancing, drove off and reported the attack to police.
A 21-year-old man from Worthing was arrested and is helping police with their inquiries.
