A man appeared in court today charged with assaulting a policeman and a string of driving offences after a sergeant was injured by a car.
The charges relate to an incident in Crowborough on January 29 in which Sgt David Tye was hurt.
Clive Anness, 32, of Buckles Lane, South Ockenden, Essex, was accused at Lewes Crown Court of grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, two counts of disqualified driving, two counts of driving with no insurance and failing to provide a breath specimen.
Anness was remanded in custody until April 16.
