Crawley secured their first victory under new skipper Jamie Westwood in Kent/Sussex Regional League Division One as they triumphed 2-1 away to bottom placed University of Kent.
Westwood scored the winner himself with a penalty stroke after Kris Rai had been grounded by the goalkeeper.
The Kent side, who fielded two former Crawley players in Simon Robinson and Matt Thompson, dominated the first 15 minutes and went ahead from a short corner.
But Crawley equalised midway through the second half when Rai scored after Westwood's flick from a short corner had been stopped on the line by a defender.
Westwood said: "It was great to pick up the three points after going behind and when we were awarded the penalty I had no qualms about stepping up to take it."
