Eastbourne sells more pyjamas than anywhere else in Britain.
Terminus Road department store Debenhams recorded £9,000 in sales from its pyjama section last year.
The seaside town was closely followed by Shoreham, Taunton and Southport in a poll of sales trends.
According to supermarket chain Asda, the people of Merthyr Tydfil cannot get enough white socks.
Stores in the Welsh town sell about 200 pairs a day, compared to the average branch which sells about 50 pairs a week.
Other places which showed shoppers had dubious fashion sense included Thurrock, Essex, which recorded the most sales of men's thongs, and London, where city dwellers snapped up thousands of white vests.
The poll also revealed Newcastle sold the highest number of support knickers in Britain, while men in Glasgow drank the most alcohol.
