Police are appealing for witnesses after a car and an ambulance collided last night.
A woman was seriously hurt in the crash in Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay, at 9.31pm.
An ambulance attending an emergency call was in collision with a Toyota Carina.
The driver of the Toyota, a local woman aged 60, was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious injuries.
The crew of the ambulance suffered shock.
Firefighters were called to release the trapped woman from her vehicle.
The road was closed for about three hours while police crash investigators examined the scene.
