A mother called the fire brigade on her mobile phone after her five-year-old son accidentally locked her in his bedroom.
But by the time firefighters arrived at the incident at St Martin's Court, Brighton, last night, she has managed to unpick the lock with a toy screwdriver.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire Brigade said the door was unusual because it locked on the outside.
