More than four in ten employees (43 per cent) are not aware of the new rights for parents to request flexible working options.
From April 6, mothers and fathers of children aged under six and disabled children under 18, will be able to request flexible working.
In practice, 3.7 million parents will be eligible, however, just 47 per cent of people interviewed by the Equal Opportunities Commission thought their employer would respond positively to such a request, while 34 per cent did not know how they would react.
