Work to refurbish a hospital baby unit has reached its second stage.
The unit at Eastbourne District General Hospital is undergoing a makeover as part of a £275,000 scheme.
Some work has already been completed and a new midwives station will be created along with new bathrooms, toilets, flooring, ceiling and lighting.
Almost 2,000 babies a year are born on the ward.
Helen O'Dell, the women's health manager, said: "I would like to thank everyone who has used the unit recently for their patience during the improvement works.
"We appreciate how inconvenient and disturbing building works can be but are sure that the end result, brighter and more modern surroundings, will be appreciated by staff and women and their families."
The work is due to be completed at the end of next month.
