Giant-killing specialists Rye and Iden United are planning to take another major scalp in tomorrow's quarter-final clash with Burgess Hill.

Rye, pushing for promotion from County League division two, have already claimed the scalps of five division one sides in cup competitions this season in Whitehawk, Littlehampton, Southwick, Arundel and Peacehaven.

Tomorrow's tie against Hillians, the current leaders and County League champions in four of the last six years, is their biggest task by far, but boss Keith Miles is not overawed.

He said: "I have watched them and they are certainly not unbeatable. They let teams create chances against them and I think we will have a chance of winning because we have scored in every game this season.

"I am definitely confident about the game and we are certainly not going out there to make up the numbers."

Miles, who won the Senior Cup as a player with St Leonards when they were known as Stamco, says his side have enough experience to reach the semi-finals.

He said: "A lot of our players have played a higher level of football so they will not be daunted by Burgess Hill. We can't wait for the game to begin and there is a real buzz around because it is very exciting.

I know what it is like to win the trophy and I have told the players that this is the kind of game we are involved in football for. It makes all the hard work week in week out worthwhile."

Miles is looking to captain Scott Price to continue his superb goal-scoring form, the midfielder notched his 26th of the season against Broadbridge Heath last week.

Miles said: "He has been absolutely brilliant this season and you can always rely on him to pop up with a goal.

"If he keeps going at this rate he could reach 40 goals this season, which would be incredible. You would be pleased with the amount he has got now from a striker, but to get it from a midfielder is unbelievable."

Miles has boosted his squad by signing experienced defender Phil Henderson who played a handful of games for St Leonards earlier this season.

Liam Barham is out for the rest of the season after undergoing an Achilles operation last week.

Burgess Hill, knocked out of the FA Vase last week, have no injury worries.

Paul Williams, Dez Guile and Andy Lutwyche returned unscathed after playing for the Sussex representative side on Tuesday.
