Fresh Lamb and jaded Raveonettes, king of ska Prince Buster and romantically-inclined Ed Harcourt all play Sussex this week.
LAMB, Corn Exchange, Brighton, February 15 Fresh off the tour with Moby, Lamb are far from the innocent fluffy animal their name suggests. The Manchester duo comprises singer Louise Rhodes, an ex-music photographer and drummer/sampler Andy Barlow. Together, they are a cocktail of throbbing beats and slick jazz licks. Starts 8pm, £12. Call 01273 709709.
THE RAVEONETTES, Freebutt, Brighton, February 16 This Danish duo claim they are so disillusioned with the state of music in their homeland they have created a rock 'n' roll sound to stun the world. Many of their songs were written on the road in the USA in true Jack Kerouac style and acclaim is flooding in. Starts 7.30pm, £6. Call 01273 772770 PRINCE BUSTER, Concorde 2, Brighton, February 19 It's time to bow down to a legend at this rare performance by one of the kings of ska. Born Cecil Campbell in Jamaica 65 years ago, Prince Buster was a one-time boxer who established his own sound system, label and record store and was responsible for the most inspired ska of the Sixties. Starts 8pm, £15. Call 01273 772770.
ED HARCOURT, Concorde 2, Brighton, February 18 This dreamy romantic is known for his melodies and has been compared with the likes of Tom Waits and Jeff Buckley. Nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2000, Ed writes his songs in solitude at his countryside home. Starts 8pm, £9. Call 01273 772770.
