A credit union that provides vital help to people on low incomes has thanked readers of The Argus for helping it find new offices.
Offers flooded in after The Argus reported the East Brighton Credit Union had nowhere to go when the lease of its offices expired next month.
The project will move to new offices in Dorset Street on March 2 after the landlord decided not to accept a higher offer from a retailer.
Many readers made alternative suggestions and others donated cash and office equipment to help the organisation, which has more than 230 members.
Readers of The Argus will help staff move from the existing Edward Street offices to the new site at nearby Dorset Street.
Project manager Martin Groombridge said: "Thanks to the kind-hearted readers who have helped our voluntary organisation find our new office.
"We were overwhelmed by the messages of support and offers of help that we got. Any other offers would always be welcome."
The project provides a savings, money advice and low-interest loans service to help people on low incomes get out of debt.
Many of the people the organisation helps would not have a means of saving and be at the mercy of loan sharks without help from the credit union.
