A scheme to help the long-term unemployed has secured jobs for more than 2,000 people in Brighton and Hove.
Sandra Moore, director of Working Links for the South Coast, said of the 25,000 posts filled countrywide, 2,164 had been in the city.
Working Links is a public/private partnership that operates ten of the 15 Employment Zones across Britain.
Ms Moore said: "We are proud to be able to help people disadvantaged in the labour market and are delighted that more than 90 per cent of people who have found work as a result of our service remain in employment for more than 13 weeks."
Keith Faulkner, managing director of Working Links, said: "It is difficult to put a figure on how much an individual and their community benefits from someone starting work.
"The most lasting impacts are often improved personal relationships and health and reductions in crime and community tensions - benefits reaching far beyond the individual and simple monetary measurement."
