An inquiry is under way today into a fire which caused extensive damage to an East Sussex church hall.
Police are investigating the blaze, which started in a shed at Holy Redeemer Church, in Upper Church Road, St Leonards, in the early hours of today.
The fire then spread to the nearby church hall.
The church itself suffered no direct damage but the shed was destroyed.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control before it also destroyed the hall.
Police said today the fire was started deliberately.
They are investigating whether a burnt out stolen car found in nearby Quebec Road is linked to the incident.
Anyone with information is being asked to call PC Paul Sandeman at Hastings police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
A family of four had to evacuate early today after fire broke out in the kitchen of their home in Joe's Lane, Windmill Hill, near Hailsham.
Firefighters from Hailsham and Herstmonceux spent about an hour at the scene after being alerted just after midnight.
The family was being offered support by East Sussex Fire Brigade's fire victims' support unit.
