The Billingshurst branch of the Royal British Legion thanks all contributors to the 2002 Poppy Appeal.
The house-to-house, street and static-point collections raised £5,526.60, while the total sum including church collections, boxes and poppy walks augmented this total to £6,108.28, paid into the Legion headquarters on December 10.
The ingenuity and dedication of people is remarkable. Peter Harris competed yet again in the London Marathon and the Northern Walk, raising a considerable sum which, when collected, will be paid in as well.
The Legion's aim is to promote the welfare of all people who have been in the armed forces and their dependents.
Help can be given with pensions, war graves, pilgrimages, business advisory services and welfare and rehabilitation.
-Stan Warren, Secretary, Royal British Legion, Billingshurst
