Lewes manager Jimmy Quinn insists his side have no chance of going up after Sussex rivals Bognor hit a last gasp equaliser in last night's division one south clash at the Dripping Pan.
The visitors dominated the first half and deservedly took the lead on 30 minutes through Matt Russell.
A neat finish from Lee Newman levelled the scores on 58 minutes and the Rooks looked to have snatched the win when Julian Curnow headed in nine minutes from time.
But Michael Birmingham rescued a point for Bognor with a header a minute into injury time.
The draw leaves second placed Lewes without a win in six games, a run which has seen them lose ground on leaders Carshalton who are now nine points clear. Bognor remain third, one point behind Lewes who have a game in hand.
Quinn, however, has already written off his side's chances of promotion. He said: "We have no chance whatsoever, I can tell you that now.
"We proved tonight we are a poor side and poor sides don't go up. The players' attitude is all wrong and if we had lost tonight I would have torn the team apart.
"There are going to be a few who have to go. We have struggled for a long time now and there is only so long you can go before something has to change.
"Bognor were far superior than us which proves we have not got a hope in hell of going up."
The visitors controlled the first half and it was no surprise when they went into the lead on the half hour mark. Michael Birmingham exchanged passes with brother David before sending in a inch perfect cross for Russell to head home his 26th of the season.
The Rooks looked a different proposition after the break and they equalised when Paul Kennett released Newman who fired between the legs of Craig Stoner for his 15th of the campaign.
Lewes looked to have claimed the win when Curnow headed home Danny Davis' free-kick from a tight angle with nine minutes left.
With a minute of injury time played however, Michael Birmingham headed home to give the visitors a share of the points.
