A popular motor show is in danger of folding due to soaring costs.
Organisers are bidding to reduce costs but may be thwarted by councillors.
The Warren Partnership, which organises the popular Worthing Motor Show every July, pays the borough council £4,600 to hire Steyne Gardens for two weeks.
Stephanie Green, of the partnership, said: "The general feeling is that the show is too expensive and dealerships may not take part in the future.
"It would be a shame if we cannot continue."
The leisure and cultural services committee, which meets next Tuesday, is being advised not to reduce the fee.
