Lord Richard Rogers complained about the toilets at Brighton station (February 18). Has no one in authority in the city ever noticed the disgraceful situation?
The article failed to make the point that there are simply no cubicles at all and have not been for several years - certainly not this millennium - and when they did exist they were filthy and unusable.
I wrote to Councillor Ken Bodfish on the subject six months ago and, in spite of a follow-up call to his secretary, received no reply.
You will see from the photograph the rail management uses the pathetic excuse that there are facilities on all trains. The notices also refer to alternative facilities being available.
When I tested this offer, I was directed to at least three different personnel and was finally escorted to a toilet which was specially opened to reveal a less than wholesome interior.
We already know what one distinguished visitor made of this state of affairs. What about the thousands of foreign tourists?
Is this really a 21st-Century Capital of Culture standard?
