I wanted to let The Argus know how good are the recent articles by Tim Parker covering the difficulties being experienced by our farmers and specialised food and drink producers in this country.

We have been involved in farming since many years before Christ so readers need to be made aware it is not just food production we are talking about but survival.

Even, God forbid, if industry disappeared, we would need fresh produce and something to drink - hopefully, plenty of wine. But I am prejudiced.

I hope, with the assistance of farmers' markets, more of our population will become aware of the quality and flavour of British food and we may gradually chip away at the 80 per cent of imported products we buy in our supermarkets from overseas.

I look forward to more of Parker's Progress.
