Police today urged people to be on their guard after a large quantity of a deadly chemical was stolen from a cemetery in Eastbourne.
About four litres of the weedkiller paraquat in steel containers were stolen from a secure compound at Langney Cemetery in Eastbourne.
Police say the chemical could kill if it is inhaled, digested or comes into contact with the skin.
Inspector Brian Donald said: "Anyone who finds suspicious substances should call the environmental health team at Eastbourne Borough Council."
Anyone who heard anything suspicious in Langney Cemetery on Sunday night should call Sussex police on 0845 6070999.
