Two televisions are placed opposite each other. On one, slowed, stop-frame video footage of two dogs, one male and one female, plays.
They are "performing" an original text by Cervantes. The female dog is telling the male dog about the terrible masters she has had.
Both dogs are amazed at their ability to speak. Every time the female dog gets to the point of her story, her words stop and the television opposite sparks into life. It screens blurred images of a man's face, then the narrative switches back to the original TV.
The dogs may be cute but the only impression this leaves is one of confusion.
Even focusing on the text, which seems to be the primary point of the piece, is made difficult by the nature of the installation.
The ways the dogs bob about because of the way they have been filmed distracts from the words and it's frustrating to never get to the point of the story.
This feels a fairly heavy-handed and uninvolving illustration of the point and, ultimately, this is not a piece that inspires.
