A goal on the stroke of half time from John Price gave Eastbourne Borough another three points at Dartford in the eastern division.
Borough have now leapfrogged Stamford into second place and are just one point behind leaders Bashley with a game in hand.
The first half was dreadful with both teams making a number of unforced errors.
Alan Tutton was booked for a late challenge on Matt Crabb for the first real action of the game on 20 minutes before Terry Ratchford tested Borough keeper Paul Stark from 30 yards.
Borough's first chance came on 31 minutes when Ben Austin's header from Stuart Tuck's cross was tipped round the post by Jimmy Simpson.
Borough slowly began to dominate and John Westcott did well to set up Scott's Ramsay but his finish was poor.
If ever a half needed a goal this was it and Price popped up at the right time to put Borough ahead.
Westcott's blocked shot fell nicely for the Borough defender and he took one touch before slotting home.
In the second half Tuck unleashed a terrific 25-yard effort which hit both posts before being cleared.
Borough had a scare on 74 minutes when Stark dropped Tommy Martin's free-kick but Price was on hand to clear off the line.
