I knew some readers had a negative stance towards a rapid transport system for Brighton and Hove but I am extremely worried when I read a person of influence adopting the same (Tony Mernagh, Letters, March 3).
Of course, Croydon Trams is experiencing financial problems with its build cost as any large infrastructure scheme carries a risk because of public funding requirements.
The fact remains Croydon has an excellent rapid transport system and will eventually overcome this financial blip.
When the Brighton Centre was built, it too experienced public funding problems but no one today says it was a waste of time and money.
There is talk of rebuilding, which will entail a public cost.
