The trial of a man accused of repeatedly raping a young girl in the Sixties was due to resume today.
Legal arguments delayed the case of Barry Watson, 57, yesterday at Chichester Crown Court.
Watson's alleged victim claims one of the attacks resulted in her becoming pregnant. DNA tests strongly supported the case that her daughter was the defendant's child.
Watson, from Bradford, is alleged to have committed the offences in the Chichester area.
He denies three rapes, two charges of indecency with a child and two indecent assaults. Three further rape allegations were withdrawn because of lack of evidence.
Two charges of indecency with a child, alleging Watson sold her for sex to two work mates, were also dropped.
The trial continues.
