A blind man of 95 was conned by a teenage girl who tricked her way into his house and stole a watch and an antique.
The man, who lives in Scaynes Hill, Haywards Heath, was at home when a duster seller came to his door yesterday at 1pm.
She spoke to the man for about ten minutes, took the watch and an antique piece of glass and then left.
Neighbours gave a description of her to the police.
The pensioner's daughter said: "It was very frightening for him.
"It was a big trauma and a big shock and his now just wants to forget about it, put it behind him and get on with his life."
A police spokesman said: "After talking to members of the public in the Foxhill area of Haywards Heath, two persons were checked.
"As a result of enquiries with them and with information we already had, a person was arrested that day in connection with the burglary of the 95-year-old victim."
The teenager was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
