Hastings manager George Wakeling says team spirit will help United avoid relegation from the premier division.
United are one point and a place above the drop zone after just one win in their last 16 league games.
Despite the poor run, Wakeling says he has seen enough spirit from his team to convince him they will beat the drop.
He said: "We have a terrific team spirit here, one of the best I have known. All the players go out after games, talk on the phone and get on with each other.
"In the last few games we have looked solid and hard to break down and that comes from all the players working hard for each other.
"That will be very important for the rest of the season because we only need to scrap out a few results to stop this run."
United suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Bath on Tuesday after three consecutive draws but Wakeling thinks he can build on recent performances.
He said: "Bath was a big disappointment because we had the better chances and had battled out three draws on the trot before the game.
"The draws haven't really helped our league position but if we can keep playing like we did then I think we will get out of it.
"We are good enough to get results, we proved that at the start of the season."
Midfielder Duncan McArthur and wingback Nick Hegley both missed the Bath game with flu and are doubtful for the visit of Welling tomorrow.
Landry Zahana-Oni is serving a one-match ban after picking up five bookings this season.
