Fly-posters have become a familiar part of our urban landscape, plastered to walls and lamp posts and screaming out for attention.
PaperJam 02 is a bold response to this paper invasion of cities.
The exhibition was the brainchild of Ed Hempleton and Hamish Makgill, who form Brighton-based design partnership Red Design.
Tired of "the public being visually assaulted by uniformly brash design formulas", they invited ten of the UK's leading graphic designers to come up with their own take on fly-posters, which were to advertise precisely nothing.
The finished designs were then fly posted around sites in London in order to inject "a burst of quality into the banal dullscape" and add subtle visual wallpaper to the capital.
Ed and Hamish, both 30, studied at Brighton Art College in the early Nineties before setting up Red Design seven years ago.
Since then they have worked predominantly for the music industry, designing album covers for Norman Cook's Skint and Brighton-based Tru Thoughts.
Other projects they are currently involved in include designs for the new Lighthouse brochure and graphics for the Hotel Pelirocco web site.
This exhibition, which includes some cutting edge work from the likes of Peter Saville, Foundation 33, Intro and photographer Jason Evans, is an amusing yet thought-provoking slant on fly-poster mania and definitely worth a look.
