A schoolboy denied raping a 19-year-old woman when he appeared before a judge on Friday.
The 14-year-old, who is too young to be named, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Chichester Crown Court.
Prosecutors allege the rape took place in Crawley's Memorial Gardens on September 30.
The teenager will have a further plea and directions hearing on May 2 and the trial is due to start at Chichester Crown Court on June 30.
He was released on conditional bail.
