I have close contact with New York city and know for sure that Americans, in general, are against war with Iraq.

However, I often wonder how British people would feel about rogue Middle Eastern policies and fanatics who live by terrorism if, God forbid, such a monumental tragedy as 9/11 were to happen in the centre of London.

I am sure the anti-war flag-wavers would be of a slightly changed opinion.

The cheap, tacky tabloids would certainly be screaming revenge all over their front pages.

There are many reasons George W Bush and Tony Blair are determined to eradicate Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden and oil is not one of them. World peace, ironically, is the main reason.

If Hitler had had a united force directed at him and his ku klux klowns in the early days of the Second World War, the Holocaust would not have taken place.

As you British so often say: Nip it in the bud. God bless America.
